On its second major European tour this season, the orchestra will be performing a selection from the programmes Mariss Jansons is conducting in Amsterdam this season. First of all, he is conducting a repeat performance of the Bartók–Mahler programme, which showcased the orchestra at its very best back at the beginning of the season. It is now being performed on the Concertgebouw’s own Carte Blanche series and in Frankfurt and Vienna.
After the concerts in the splendid Main Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, the orchestra will be travelling on to Brussels, Luxembourg, Paris, Lisbon and Madrid. The RCO has been orchestra in residence at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and at Salle Pleyel in Paris since its 2010–11 season.
In Belgium and France, an RCO society of friends is organising activities around the concerts.
