On 11 October 2020 the Concertgebouworkest and pianist Krystian Zimerman will perform all five of Beethoven’s piano concertos on one Sunday afternoon. Zimerman is one of the greatest pianists of our time is widely considered an authority when it comes to performing Beethoven.  Gustavo Gimeno will be conducting. For this unique marathon concert (commencing at 1 pm) tickets will be available from 3 December 2019 via this website.

With this  marathon concert, part of Beethoven 2020 in Het Concertgebouw, the Concertgebouworkest celebrates the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven 250 years ago, in December 1770. The music world would never be the same. Besides the symphony and the string quartet, the piano concerto, too, owes a great debt to Beethoven. Thanks in part to Beethoven’s piano concertos, the instrument underwent dramatic changes around 1800 which would greatly expand its range, dynamics and expressive potential.
