Born in 1995, Caspar Horsch began studying the violin with Julia Veerling at an early age. He was accepted to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam’s Young Talent programme in 2007 where he studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek. He was also a member of the Fancy Fiddlers, a string ensemble with which he performed throughout the Netherlands. In 2017, Horsch completed his Bachelor’s degree studying with Liviu Prunaru at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Having won prizes at the competitions of the Foundation for Young Musical Talent in the Netherlands and the Iordens Viooldagen, Horsch also won second prize at the 2011 Davina van Wely Violin Competition in The Hague, where he performed as a soloist with the Atheneum Chamber Orchestra. In addition, he has performed at the Amsterdam Grachtenfestival (Canal Festival) and taken part in a public masterclass given by Liza Ferschtman in the Recital Hall of the Concertgebouw.
Last summer Horsch joined the European Union Youth Orchestra, with which he has toured various European cities under the direction of conductors Gianandrea Noseda and Bernard Haitink.
