About this concert

The Concertgebouworkest has organised all its concert programmes in January to reflect the theme ‘Made in America’.

Of this programme, the orchestra’s chamber music programmer Johannes Pfeuffer, says, ‘The contemporary music of composers like Steve Reich, Caroline Shaw, Gabriella Smith and JacobTV is fascinating, exciting and relatable for a wide audience. I find Reich’s minimalist music wonderfully hypnotic, while Shaw mixes modern and Baroque styles, and JacobTV combines live sounds with tape in an exciting way. Zaïre Krieger’s role is obviously very special, too. Here she draws parallels between these four works through the spoken word. All this in the intimate setting of the orchestra’s own Amsterdam Hall… You won’t want to miss it!’
