This special evening is a tribute to New York with works by George Gershwin conducted by the New Yorker Alan Gilbert. The versatile pianist Stefano Bollani is the perfect interpreter for Gerswin’s Rhapsody in Blue
Alan Gilbert will be conducting the Concertgebouworkest in this intimate tribute to New York. With swinging, colourful music by George Gershwin the concert is all about the mix of classical and jazz music so typical of the Big Apple. Given the major impact the coronavirus is having on New York, the programme is also a show of solidarity for that dynamic musical city.
Stefano Bollani, the versatile pianist who is just as at home performing in jazz clubs as he is in major concert halls, is making a solo appearance in Gershwin’s unbeatable Rhapsody in Blue. The programme also features Gershwin’s equally jazzy symphonic poem An American in Paris.
