On its Cinderella children’s concert, the Concertgebouworkest will be introducing children aged six and older to Cinderella and the colourful music of Prokofiev. There’s as much to see as there is to hear – we’ll all be stepping into a giant book of fairy tales, in which the plot of the story comes to life right before our very eyes.
The fairy tale alone is so beautiful: little Cinderella is terrorised by her evil stepsisters and stepmother, but with the help of a magic fairy, she shines for a few hours at a handsome prince’s ball. Prokofiev’s colourful music adds even more life to the story, sweeping children and parents along in Cinderella’s spell. The magical moment when the clock strikes twelve, the glass slipper that Cinderella leaves behind, the exotic countries the prince visits in his efforts to find her – all this and more comes to life in this exciting musical fairy tale.
