The Korean maestro Myung-whun Chung leads the Concertgebouworkest in Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 – a gigantic, magisterial evening-long work featuring vocal soloists and chorus.

Mahler’s Third Symphony

Mahler was among those who nurtured the Concertgebouworkest in its infancy, having conducted it on a number of occasions in Amsterdam. In addition, his symphonies soon became a veritable cornerstone of its repertoire.

Mahler conducted his Symphony No. 3 in Amsterdam in 1903. It is his most monumental symphony, in terms of both length and instrumentation. The music has an unmistakable spirituality which has often been compared to Beethoven. As live performances of the work are rare, it’s the perfect opportunity to experience this extraordinary masterpiece in concert.
