Opening Night is the festive opening of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra's new season in the company of loyal audience members and new friends. Soloist is the famous violinist Janine Jansen. Of course the concert is preceded by a stylish walking dinner and after the concert there is the possibility to meet the musicians in the foyers.
The concert is preceded by an elegant standing buffet reception. Guests can enjoy the buffet starting from 6pm in the foyers surrounding the Main Hall and Recital Hall. The concert begins at 8.15pm. After the concert there is an opportunity to meet the musicians in the foyers.
Dress code: black tie.
The box office takings of the Opening Night are always put towards the educational activities of the orchestra. With the soon to open RCO House new eductional possibilties arise. The ensembe hall is especially suited to host school classes where children will be immersed with classical music. Children will not only listen to music, but will have the opportunity to try instruments themselves. These instruments have been donated to the orchestra by private donors.
