In January 2021 the Dutch government extended far-reaching measures to help minimise contact between people. This means that the Concertgebouworkest will not be able to perform for live audiences until 9 February at the earliest.
It comes as a great disappointment to the orchestra that even those concerts most recently modified to accommodate a live audience now cannot go ahead.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has announced, however, that professional groups will continue to be allowed to come together to rehearse, perform and record – for online performances, live streams and radio and television broadcasts, for instance. It is essential that the musicians of the Concertgebouworkest continue to play together to ensure that the quality of our ensemble remains at the highest possible level – and so that we can keep sharing our music with you.
It is for this reason that we will be focusing mainly on concert recordings in the coming period so you can continue to enjoy our music on your television, computer, tablet or smartphone.
