Gerhard Siegel began his musical career as an instrumentalist and composer. After completing his vocal studies at the Augsburg Conservatory, he joined the opera company of Theater Trier.
While employed at the Staatstheater in Nuremberg, he expanded his repertoire of dramatic and heroic tenor roles. Since 2006, Siegel has given guest solo appearances at opera houses in Europe and the US, the role of Mime in Wagner’s Das Rheingold and Siegfried being a particular favourite.
The German tenor first sang with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the June 2015 production of Alban Berg’s Lulu, conducted by Lothar Zagrosek and directed by William Kentridge, which involved eight performances at the Muziektheater in Amsterdam.
