Works by Mozart and Berlioz with soprano Miah Persson as guest soloist
On Friday, 11 December, Iván Fischer conducts the Concertgebouworkest in works by Mozart and Berlioz in a performance without audience at The Concertgebouw, streamed live through concertgebouworkest.nl and Facebook.
Soprano Miah Persson is the soloist in Berlioz’ song cycle Les nuits d’été, which is flanked by Mozart’s Menuet in C major, K.409 and his Symphony No. 34 in C major, K.338. Although the popular Menuet for orchestra is usually performed separately, there are clues that it may have belonged to Mozart’s Symphony No. 34.
At 8.00 p.m. CET the stream starts with an interview: the orchestra’s solo double bass player Dominic Seldis speaks with his colleague, violinist Marc Daniel van Biemen. At 8.15 p.m, live streaming will start.
Since his first performance with the Concertgebouworkest in 1987, Iván Fischer is a well loved guest conductor, returning to the orchestra nearly every season. In October 2020, the orchestra appointed him honorary guest conductor with effect from the 2021–22 season.
The soprano Miah Persson has been a regular guest with the orchestra since 2004. In 2010 she was the soloist in Mahler’s Fourth Symphony under the baton of Iván Fischer, a celebrated performance which appeared on cd on the Concertgebouworkest Live label.
