Louis Andriessen was the Netherlands’ most influential composer of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, and an extraordinary human being. The Concertgebouworkest has had a long and intense relationship with Louis, ever since the performance of his Nocturnen in 1964. In 2013 he composed the beautiful Mysteriën for the Concertgebouworkest – his first work for symphony orchestra in over forty years. We will miss him. The world will miss him.
