Principal Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and Principal Guest Conductor of Sinfonieorchester Basel, Michał Nesterowicz is in demand worldwide for his dynamic performances and eloquent interpretations of the symphonic repertoire.
Michał Nesterowicz graduated with honours in Wroclaw (Poland). Two years later he was among the prizewinners of the Grzegorz Fitelborg International Conducting Competition in Katowice. As artistic director of the Polish-Baltic Orchestra in Gdansk he soon attracted attention of all leading Polish orchestras. After winning the Cadaqués Orchestra European Conducting Competition, he was principal conductor of the Orquestre Sinfónica Nacional de Chili from 2008 to 2011.
Nesterowicz has built ongoing relationships with Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice and Orquesta Ciudad de Granada. He has also had a regular presence with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and has worked with the likes of the Münchner Philharmoniker, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Deutsches Symfonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, and BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Following his debuts last season with the Residentie Orkest and Noord Nederlands Orkest, both orchestras have invited him back already for this spring. Having made his Berlin debut with the Konzerthausorchester in January 2017, on 1 April he will conduct at the Vienna Musikverein for the first time. But first he makes his debut with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
