Nationaal Jongenskoor

Choir

The Netherlands National Boys Choir was set up by Vocal Talent Netherlands, an educational institute with a mission: to develop musical talent among young children from the age of 6. This foundation is also the driving force behind the National Children’s Choir for children aged 10 and up, as well as the National Youth Choir for teenagers from the age of 16.

The National Boys Choir was founded in 2006 to give an extra boost to choir singing among boys. A team of teachers is entrusted with the vocal training in locations across the Netherlands.

Ensemble leader of the National Boys Choir is soprano Irene Verburg. Wilma ten Wolde is responsible for the artistic management.

In April 2014, the choir sang its part in Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion with the Concertgebouworkest and Collegium Vocale Gent under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe. In January 2015, the choir - together with the National Children’s Choir, amongst others - made its appearance with the Concertgebouworkest in Mahler’s Third Symphony, conducted by Daniele Gatti.
