On 14, 21 and 28 May 2021, the Concertgebouworkest continues to present streaming programmes on Fridays. In addition, on Tuesday 4 May at 8.15 p.m. and Wednesday 12 May at 10.45 a.m. CEST, Mezzo tv will broadcast a programme by the Concertgebouworkest conducted by Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, who makes her debut with the orchestra. She conducts Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3 and Weinberg’s Symphony No. 3.

From 14 May, the Concertgebouworkest presents new concert streams on Fridays via concertgebouworkest.nl and the orchestra’s Facebook and YouTube channels. The streams will start at 8 p.m. CEST. Each video will remain accessible for a week after its premiere via concertgebouworkest.nl/en/watch-and-listen.

A stream on 14 May features a performance of Messiaen’s Les offrandes oubliées and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 under the direction of Klaus Mäkelä. Following his very convincing debut with the Concertgebouworkest in September 2020, the young Finnish conductor returned in December to conduct the Christmas Matinee, stepping in for Fabio Luisi. Now Mr Mäkelä will return for the third time this season.

On 21 May, Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the Concertgebouworkest in Mozart’s Overture to ‘Die Zauberflöte’ and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, featuring Swedish soprano Camilla Tilling.

On 28 May, the orchestra will stream a Mahler programme under the baton of Fabio Luisi. Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder featuring the baritone Peter Mattei will be followed by Symphony No. 5. The concert opens with the world premiere of mais le corps taché d’ombres by the young Dutch composer Rick van Veldhuizen, commissioned by the Concertgebouworkest and the Mahler Foundation.

Free of charge

The Concertgebouworkest is able to stream its concert programmes free of charge thanks to the generous support of donors and sponsors. Information about supporting the orchestra may be found at concertgebouworkest.nl/en/private-donations.
