About this concert
The acclaimed Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda stands up for rarely performed yet heart-warming works by two of his countrymen. The Dutch-Iranian soprano Lilian Farahani is making her Concertgebouw Orchestra debut in Dallapiccola’s captivating Partita. It was with this work that the composer made his breakthrough before converting to the avant-garde. Noseda once wrote history with it, having been the first ever to record the work.
The concert opens with Stravinsky’ take on the hyper-expressive madrigals of Gesualdo. Bernd Richard Deutsch composed a new work for the Concertgebouw Orchestra, and all the orchestra’s instruments are allowed to shine in Respighi’s colourful Metamorphoseon.
