In addition to the Family Series, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra reaches out to young audiences in other ways as well.
For children six years and older, the orchestra gives two Family Concerts a season, organised in collaboration with the donors’ foundation Stichting Donateurs. The 2017/2018 seasons's concerts are King Tree Climber on 22 October 2017 of Romeo and Julia on 3 Juni 2018.
These concerts introduce young audience members to symphonic music in a fun, accessible way.
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is developing a series of educational apps specially for pupils attending Dutch primary schools. The apps are made available to schools free of charge. The first app in the series, which is all about Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, was released in April 2014.
Secondary students can visit a rehearsal, which they can opt to combine with a tour of the Concertgebouw. The Royal Concertgebouw also organises workshops with a concert for this age group.
