The American hornist Sharon St. Onge studied with Charles Kavalovski at the Boston University School of Music and with Adriaan van Woudenberg at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. She joined the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in January 1982.
For several years, Sharon St. Onge was co-ordinator of the RCO Academy. She regularly performs with colleagues from the orchestra in the Close-up chamber music series in the Recital Hall of The Concertgebouw. St. Onge is also a member of the Brass of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
In 1995, St. Onge was invited to play in a performance commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations by the World Orchestra for Peace under the baton of Sir Georg Solti.
Sharon St. Onge plays a number of horns from the instrument collection of the RCO Foundation, one of which was purchased thanks to the generosity of a member of the Freundeskreis Schweiz, the orchestra’s Swiss society of friends.
