Short Instagram concerts during curfew period

22 January 2021

Under the slogan ‘Stay in, stay tuned’, the Concertgebouworkest will be streaming a short chamber music concert every evening at 9.00 p.m. on Instagram Live starting on Saturday, 23 January.

With these daily musical moments on instagram.com/Concertgebouworkest, the orchestra hopes to offer comfort to all those in the Netherlands for as long as the national curfew is in force.

Naturally, the musicians of the Concertgebouworkest are observing the curfew, too, as the chamber music on these concerts is performed and recorded during the day.

After curfew, the Instagram concerts will be available on the video platform for one week.

Even more chamber music

In recent months, music by smaller ensembles has been playing an increasingly important role at the Concertgebouworkest alongside its regular symphonic concerts. On most Sunday afternoons, for instance, chamber music performed by members of the orchestra can be heard on NPO Radio 4: as long as live concerts are prohibited, the AVROTROS network is framing the orchestra’s concert programmes recorded at the Concertgebouw with interviews and chamber music live from the Amsterdam Hall.
