Children's music day

On Sunday, 28 November, the Concertgebouworkest is opening its doors to young children! They, together with their parents or grandparents, are invited to attend a Children’s Music Day at Gabriël Metsustraat 16 in Amsterdam.

From 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., toddlers between the ages of two and four are welcome at The Little Sounding Box, a fun, interactive mini-concert in the Amsterdam Hall. Together with a musician from the Concertgebouworkest and actor Lotte van Dijck, the children will be embarking on a musical journey of discovery. There’s a mysterious box in which secret sounds are hidden. What will come out? It’s all about the very youngest listeners feeling, sensing and experiencing music.

In between, orchestral musicians will be performing lullabies from all over the world in the Reception Room, as heard in the Shhh… sleep well series, a production by the orchestra in collaboration with Zwitsal. And of course, tea and coffee will be available for the adults.

The Little Sounding Box mini-concerts start at 10.00, 10.45 and 11.30 (doors open twenty minutes beforehand). A ticket gives you access to the mini-concert, with the option afterwards of going on a musical exploration of the premises.
