About this concert
ADE is 30 years young, and we’re celebrating with an exhilarating dance track from the early nineteenth century: Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony! We’ll perform it beneath EINDER, the spectacular installation by award-winning artist Boris Acket.
With four famous notes, ‘da-da-da-daa’, Beethoven launches his Fifth Symphony. But what follows is even more astonishing. The rhythmic motif keeps returning, constantly taking on new forms, as Beethoven builds his symphony layer by layer. It was revolutionary 200 years ago, and it still is today. This high-energy music never ceases to surprise. And tonight, the evening will be rounded off with music composed especially for the occasion by Boris Acket.
Conducted by Riccardo Minasi and in collaboration with Making Waves, we bring Beethoven’s iconic Fifth Symphony vividly to life at the Centrale Markthal beneath Boris Acket’s EINDER: an 80-by-25-metre kinetic landscape of fabric that continually changes shape, combining with the music to create a unique, immersive experience.
