About this concert
Eww! A spider! Oh, hang on – she’s not a scary spider. Her name is Tarantula, and she’s all alone. She can’t spin a web, but dreams of a spiderweb palace filled with friends. She sees all the other animals from the proud lion to the friendly chickens pass by. But nobody pays her any attention! Until she discovers she has the magic power to make the other animals dance. Will her dream come true after all?
Curious to hear what all this sounds like? Then you won’t want to miss the Family Concert Tarantula and the Dance of the Animals. Performing music by the French composer Saint-Saëns, the musicians of the Concertgebouworkest and the young actress Carlene Sancho transport you into Tarantula’s world. Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals is a parade of the most wonderful animals who dance the tarantella. And don’t forget the ‘Danse macabre’!
A collaboration with Oorkaan, this concert is being directed by Caecilia Thunnissen. The dramatist is Erin Coppens, the text was written by Lisanne van Aert, Tessa Verbei oversees the scenography and Desiree van Gelderen is responsible for the lighting design. Lionet Ziblat arranged the music.
