About this concert
For the first time, our orchestra will be performing in the IJ-Salon. We will be playing four world premieres by promising composers – the culmination of our second ever composers’ workshop. By engaging in conversation with the composers, we will be taken on an adventure through the creation of these new works. After the interval, orchestra musicians will perform pieces by Duke Ellington tastefully arranged for clarinet and string quartet.
Workshop for composers
Composers at the start of their careers rarely get the opportunity to work with a symphony orchestra. That’s why we started a composer workshop in 2024. Now, four young composers have once again been commissioned to write an orchestral work for us. The new pieces will first be reviewed and commented on during a private workshop in early spring with American composer and Grawemeyer Award winner Andrew Norman as mentor. You can hear the results of this workshop in the IJ-Salon.
