Concertgebouw Orchestra to perform Mahler's Symphony No. 7 on tour

In August 2023, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will visit Berlin, Lucerne, Ljubljana and Grafenegg as part of its annual summer tour of European music venues and festivals. During this tour, honorary guest conductor Iván Fischer will conduct the orchestra in Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 7.   
 
On Thursday, 24 August the Concertgebouw Orchestra and Fischer will perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 7 at The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as part of the Vriendenloterij SummerConcerts. On Saturday, 26 August the tour will start with a concert in the Berlin Philharmonie, where the orchestra will be opening the Musikfest Berlin 2023. The Concertgebouw Orchestra will then perform at the Lucerne Festival the next day and in Cankarjev Dom in Ljubljana on the 28th, concluding the tour with a concert on Grafenegg's open-air stage Wolkenturm in Austria. 
 
In Amsterdam, Berlin and Grafenegg, Mahler's Symphony No. 7 will be preceded by songs from Jörg Widmann's Das heisse Herz featuring baritone Michael Nagy. In Lucerne, the orchestra will open the concert with Wagner's Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.
