Jaap van Zweden will be conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on 5, 6 and 8 January, 2023. The orchestra’s artist in residence, clarinettist Martin Fröst, is the soloist in Anna Clyne’s Weathered. This world premiere is followed by a concert performance of Act I of Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre, featuring three renowned operatic singers, tenor Stuart Skelton (Siegmund), soprano Anja Kampe (Sieglinde) and bass Kwangchul Youn (Hunding).

Anna Clyne’s clarinet concerto Weathered was newly composed for the Concertgebouw Orchestra and its current artist in residence Martin Fröst. The work was conceived in close collaboration with Fröst. ‘From the beginning until the end, he has been a true partner’, the composer says. ‘A collaboration like this is a great source of inspiration.’
