Born in Lausanne, Arthur Trælnes began violin lessons at the age of six and earned his bachelor’s degree at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne under Gyula Stuller in 2022. He then studied with Alexander Kerr, former concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he received a Solo Performance Diploma in 2023 and completed his master’s degree in 2025.
Masterclasses include those at the Kronberg Festival in 2021 and at the Thuringian State Music Academy in Sondershausen in 2022, where he performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. In November 2024, he performed Mozart’s Fifth Violin Concerto at Carnegie Hall in New York during a masterclass with Maxim Vengerov.
Arthur was successful in numerous national and international competitions, having earned first prizes at the Violin and Orchestra Competition Premio Rotary per la Musica in Novi Ligure, Italy (2019) and the Concours d’Interprétation Musicale de Lausanne (2025).
He served as concertmaster of the Verbier Festival Orchestra from 2022 to 2024, and as a member of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra toured in numerous countries across Europe, Asia and North America. He also explores jazz with his quintet Crome, which has released two albums so far.
Arthur plays a Giovanni Battista Ceruti violin built in Cremona in 1797.
