Léo Genet joined the Concertgebouw Orchestra in August 2018.
At the age of seven Léo Genet entered Jean-Marie Verne's class at the Conservatoire Régional de Lyon. He obtained his Diploma of Musical Studies in 2010, and the same year entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse of Lyon, where his teachers were Bernard Cazauran, François Montmayeur and Cédric Carlier. In 2013 he obtained his bachelor’s degree, and his degree in musicology from Lyon 2 University.
Upon obtaining his master’s degree in Lyon, the Frenchman entered the class of Rick Stotijn and Olivier Thiery at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam for further master studies. He joined the academy of the Netherlands Philharmonic in 2016/17.
Léo Genet played principal bass in the French Youth Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra and has regularly played with the Orchestre National de Lyon and the Opéra de Lyon, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. In the 2017/18 season, he was a member of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
Léo Genet has a double bass on loan from the Foundation Concertgebouworkest , which was built in Londen around 1840 by B.S. Fendt II, purchased with the support of Ammodo and restored by the previous owner in Tokyo.
