Born in Rome, Leonardo Petracci began his studies with his grandfather,

Salvatore De Girolamo, former cello professor at the Conservatory of Rome,

and continued his studies under the guidance of Paolo Andriotti for many years. He attended many masterclasses with Enrico Bronzi.

Already at an early age he performed as a soloist with the Junior Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia at the Italian Parliament. He gave recitals and was awarded many scholarships and prizes in national and international competitions.

From 2017 to 2021, Leonardo was a student of Antonio Meneses at the Stauffer Academy in Cremona. In 2021, he enrolled at the Mozarteum University, where he completed his bachelor's degree under the guidance of Giovanni Gnocchi, and pursued his master’s with Clemens Hagen. As a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, he performed all over Europe.

In 2019 he founded the Trio Enea with pianist Nicola Possenti and violinist Alice Notarangelo.

In 2022, Leonardo was selected to join the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. In 2024 he won the audition for the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and was invited to perform with the LGT Young Soloists at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.

In 2023 he won both the first prize and a special prize at the International David Popper Cello Competition in Hungary.
