The Dutch-Finnish violinist Pauli Paananen grew up in a musical family and received his first violin lessons from his parents. He continued his lessons with Hans Scheepers in Amstelveen until he enrolled at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of Peter Brunt.

Having obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2022, Pauli went on to study with Maria Milstein in Amsterdam. In the 2024-24 season, he participated in the academy of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

Pauli received masterclasses from a.o. Mathieu van Bellen, Daniel Rowland, Ioana Cristina Goicea, Anatoli Melnikov and several teachers at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the Dutch String Quartet Academy (NSKA).

He has performed chamber music with his family from a young age, and continues to do so together with teachers and fellow students in different ensembles.

Pauli is currently playing a violin built by Johannes Bernardus Cuypers (1814), on loan from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation.
