Pietro Silvestri Pietro Silvestri joined the Concertgebouw Orchestra in August 2026. He studied with Angelo Zanin at the Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello in Venice, and completed his studies in the class of Asier Polo at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland.
He took part in masterclasses and has played with renowned cellists such as Antonio Meneses, Giovanni Sollima, Mario Brunello, Guy Johnson, David Geringas, Asier Polo, Giovanni Gnocchi and Stefano Cerrato.
Pietro often performed as principal cello at Venice’s opera house La Fenice, where he also performed chamber music and recitals.
Pietro has served as principal cellist of European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), performing in prestigious halls across Europe and collaborating with such soloists as Alban Gerhardt, Nicolas Altstaedt, Renaud Capuçon and Julia Fischer, and conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Antonio Pappano and Iván Fischer.
In the 2024-25 season he was a participant of the Academy of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. He also participated in the academy of the Budapest Festival Orchestra, where he is a regular guest.
In 2025, Silvestri won the Premio Peggy Finzi. Previously, he positioned first in the competitions Piove Di Sacco (2021) and Rossini di Pesaro.
With pianist Tommaso Boggian he forms the Duo del Giglio, which has performed throughout Italy.
