Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, Pijus Paškevičius received his first oboe lessons from Vytautas Masteika at the Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium. At the age of ten, Pijus became a member of the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation, which supports exceptionally gifted young musicians.
He pursued his bachelor studies with Thomas Indermühle at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and his master studies with Ralph van Daal at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.
Pijus has participated in masterclasses with oboists Stefan Schilli, François Leleux, Diethelm Jonas, and Jean-Louis Capezzali.
A prize winner of several international competitions, he has toured throughout Europe as a soloist with several orchestras from an early age. Over the years, he has developed a particularly close artistic relationship with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra.
In 2017, following an invitation to perform as a soloist at the renowned Next Geneeration Festival in Switzerland, music critic Rémy Franck wrote about Pijus in Pizzicato magazine: ‘He plays like a virtuoso, and his lyrical passages are simply flawless’.
In 2020, he received an Award of Appreciation from president Gitanas Nausėda of Lithuania, in recognition of his contributions to promoting Lithuania's international profile through competitions and concert performances.
