Born in Vlissingen, Quintijn van Heek began learning the violin at the local music school at the age of six. From the age of nine he studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek. At eleven, he continued his studies at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester with Jan Repko, and from the age of fifteen attended the Musica Mundi School in Waterloo, Belgium, where he studied with Leonid Kerbel.
In 2025, Quintijn completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied with Maria Milstein and also pursued jazz improvisation with Tim Kliphuis. Alongside his classical repertoire, he continues to develop his artistic voice at the intersection of classical music and jazz, with chamber music occupying a central place in his work.
In 2025, Quintijn was awarded the Young Creators Prize at the Oskar Back Dutch Violin Competition, having won the Performance Prize at the same competition in 2024. Both awards were received for his own compositions. In 2025, he served as concertmaster of the Musica Mundi Festival Orchestra, and in 2026 he was a member of the Menuhin Gstaad Festival Orchestra.
At the age of thirteen, Quintijn made his solo debut with Wieniawski’s Légende alongside the Zeeland Orchestra. Since then, he has performed regularly both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. He has also taken part in numerous masterclasses and summer courses, working with renowned musicians including Ivry Gitlis, Maxim Vengerov, Gilles Apap, Alexandra Soumm and the Leipzig String Quartet.
