Born in Brussels, Teresa de Broeck moved to Portugal at a young age, where she took flute lessons at the Academia de Música de Espinho and in the class of Ana Maria Ribeiro at the Aveiro conservatoire. At the Hochschule für Musik Basel she pursued her bachelor studies in the class of Felix Renggli and, in June 2026, completed her master’s degree with a minor in Orchestra.
She received masterclasses from such musicians as Renate Greiss-Armin, Kersten McCall, Sibel Pensel, Adriana Ferreira, Nicola Mazzanti, and Pamela Stahel.
Teresa was awarded several prizes at international competitions, including the Espinho Wind Competition, Paços’ Premium International Competition, and the Bendada Festival’s solo concerto competition.
As a participant in the Bern Symphony Orchestra’s academy programme, in the 2024–25 season she regularly performed with the orchestra. She has also played with the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Academy Basel, Ensemble Diagonal, the Beiras Philharmonic Orchestra, and the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, Teresa has a a particular interest in lesser-known repertoire for flute, particularly by female composers, having played at festivals such as Feminale Basel and Women in Classics. She recently appeared as a soloist with the BIMF Festival Orchestra in Portugal and the Orchestra del Teatro di Livorno, in Italy.
