Valerie Schweighofer joined the Concertgebouw Orchestra’s second violin section on 1 August 2026. In 2023, she was a member of the first violin section of the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hanover. In the 2024-25 season she was a participant of the Academy of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, and in 2025-26 she played in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Valerie Schweighofer studied with Alexander Kostin in München and with Krzysztof Wegrzyn at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, where she went on to join Liza Ferschtmann’s Solo Performance class. Further artistic inspiration came from Oliver Wille, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Jörg Widmann and Midori, among others.
She was a prizewinner at various competitions, including the WDR3-Klassik Preis of the city of Münster and the Odessa and Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competitions.
As a soloist, she has performed with several orchestras including the Munich Symphony Orchestra.
Schweighofer is a founding member of the Avin Trio, which performed at festivals throughout Germany, and won a scholarship and special prize at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb.
