The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is inviting outstanding conductors (between 18-35 years old) to apply to the Ammodo conducting masterclass with Iván Fischer. In the past, the Concertgebouw Orchestra has hosted successful masterclasses for talented conductors with Mariss Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Daniele Gatti, Iván Fischer, Fabio Luisi and Paavo Järvi.

This year, the repertoire is:

  • Béla Bartók – Music from 'The Miraculous Mandarin’, op. 19 (Suite)
  • Johannes Brahms - Symphony No. 1 in c minor, op. 68
  • Carl Maria von Weber - Overture 'Der Freischütz'
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Overture 'Die Zauberflöte'

For this masterclass, we are looking for outstanding young musicians who

  • have some prior experience conducting symphony orchestras;
  • are accomplished in the areas of music theory, score reading and harmony;
  • have an excellent ear;
  • are between the ages of 18 and 35 for the duration of the live masterclasses;
  • can understand and speak English.

The selected conductors will work with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, under the supervision of Iván Fischer. Four active participants will be selected, and four other applicants will be offered the opportunity to attend the masterclass as auditors.

The sessions on 23, 24 and 25 June 2026 will be attended by a live audience at the Concertgebouw and will be live-streamed. The masterclass will be held in English.
