Bruckner cycle
September 4, 2024, marks the 200th anniversary of Anton Bruckner’s birth. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will celebrate that landmark in style with a unique concert cycle: for the first time ever, the Bruckner orchestra par excellence will play his symphonies No. 1 to 9 within a year and a half, under the direction of nine renowned conductors.
Entire Bruckner cycle
The cycle will begin in December 2023 with the Third Symphony led by honorary guest conductor Iván Fischer. Myung-whun Chung, Klaus Mäkelä and Christian Thielemann will conduct the Seventh, Fifth and Eighth Symphonies respectively. The remaining symphonies will be performed during the 2024-25 season, conducted by Andrew Manze, Jaap van Zweden, Vladimir Jurowski, Simone Young and Riccardo Chailly.
