Alexander Gavrylyuk won the 1999 Vladimir Horowitz Competition at the age of fifteen. He truly established a reputation for himself the following year, when, as the youngest participant, he won first prize at the Hamamatsu Competition in Japan. Ever since, he has been in high demand as a performer in Japan, having also recorded his first two CDs there.

His international career has now truly taken flight, with acclaimed performances at Lincoln Center, the Sidney Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl. Gavrylyuk won first prize, the gold medal and the special award for best performance of a classical concerto at the 2005 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition.

Gavrylyuk has since performed with many leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. In 2009, he recorded the complete Prokofiev piano concertos with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Ashkenazy.
