conductor

Riccardo Minasi

Alongside his position as chief conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Italian conductor and violinist Riccardo Minasi maintains regular relationships with Ensemble Resonanz and La Scintilla, and guest conducts many other orchestras. Recent conducting and directing engagements include appearances with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.

Very much at home in the opera house, his highlights include Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles at the Salzburg Festival, Haydn’s Orlando paladino at Zurich Opera House, and Handel’s Rinaldo at Theater an der Wien (with Il Pomo d’Oro of which he was founding artistic director from 2012 to 2015).

His performances are steeped in musicological integrity, and he has acted as historical advisor for the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, as well as editor (alongside Maurizio Biondi) of the 2016 Bärenreiter critical edition of Bellini’s Norma. As soloist and concertmaster, Minasi has performed with the likes of Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Il Giardino Armonico, and Le Concert des Nations.

Riccardo Minasi’s scheduled Concertgebouworkest debut in October 2020 was cancelled due to covid-19. In the 2021/22 season he will lead the orchestra for the first time.
