The Concertgebouworkest has always enjoyed collaborating with prominent composers, from Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss at the beginning of the last century to George Benjamin, Thomas Adès and Tan Dun nowadays.

This season’s guests include Jörg Widmann, who will conduct works by Mendelssohn and himself. To mark the centenary of the birth of Hans Werner Henze, who collaborated with us on many occasions, we will be performing the sumptuous violin concerto Il Vitalino raddoppiato, with Julia Fischer as soloist.

Our A series also includes a world premiere by Magnus Lindberg and works by Lotta Wennäkoski and Sophie Meyer, as well as Saint-Saëns with pianist Lang Lang. Because classical music is a vibrant living tradition.

Expanding

To enable as many people as possible to enjoy contemporary music, we are incorporating it more and more often in our other series. Series A can therefore be expanded with Expansion Pack 5: a package comprising two adventurous concerts from Series B, featuring works by Weill, Shostakovich and Brisova-Ollas, amongst others.

If you are entitled to Friends’ or donors’ discount for this series, you can select the reduced price once you have logged in.
