The chamber music concerts in the Close-up Series let you marvel up close at the artistry of musicians of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
For many years now, musicians of the Concertgebouw Orchestra have been performing their own programmes in the Recital Hall of the Concertgebouw as part of the chamber music Close-up Series. These intimate concerts are organised by the Friends of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Next season will once again feature six one-off, carefully curated concerts, divided into two series of three. We kick off the season with a concert focusing on European composers who once found freedom and new opportunities in the United States. Beethoven, who died 200 years ago, features in a concert showcasing late works by composers he inspired.
Hear how beautifully instruments can sing (‘Andante cantabile’), and how dance, theatre and film can seep into music (‘Musique de scène’). What does hell sound like? And is there such a thing as typically Hungarian music?
If you are entitled to Friends’ or donors’ discount for this series, you can select the reduced price once you have logged in.
