sor is the pseudonym used by Rosario Mussendijk. He raps, sings, composes, conducts and acts, and is a member of the creative hip-hop collective Black Acid. sor has a contract with the music label Noah’s Ark (a subsidiary of Universal) and with publisher BMG. In 2018 he experienced hearing loss, which forced him to become even more creative in his work. He makes music using synthesizers, a SubPac (an audio system that works through touch) and a hearing aid.
In 2022, following his hit ep’s Phonak (2019) and Professor (2020), he released the three-part album Bae Doven, which brings together the worlds of classical music and hip-hop. He made a short film about Bae Doven with Bear Damen, which was shown at the Netherlands Film Festival. He sold out the Concertgebouw appearing with his 58-strong ‘sorkest’, and he has also worked with Yade Lauren, S10, Hef, Jonna Fraser, Cho, Winne and others. In early 2022 he won the television conducting competition Maestro, and in early 2024 he was a candidate in the popular Dutch show Wie is de mol?, making it to the final round.
