Iván Fischer and Bruckner’s Third Symphony
Unique Bruckner cycle starts with the Third symphony, introduced by Iván Fischer
Het Concertgebouw, Amsterdam
The Concertgebouw Orchestra performs Bruckner's Symphonies 1 through 9 with nine leading Bruckner conductors. Now you can order the complete cycle, covering two seasons, as a subscription series.
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Bruckner’s birth, the Concertgebouw Orchestra will, for the first time ever, be performing a cycle of all nine of his numbered symphonies within a year and a half. Nine leading conductors will add their unique interpretation to the Concertgebouw Orchestra’s rich Bruckner legacy. Don’t miss this historical cycle spanning two concert seasons: tickets are on sale now.
The series will begin on 17 December with an introduction by Iván Fischer using live fragments played by the orchestra and followed by the entire Third Symphony. Myung-whun Chung will lead the Seventh, with which Bruckner, by then already sixty, finally achieved recogni- tion. Klaus Mäkelä will conduct the monumental Fifth Symphony and Christian Thielemann the Eighth. During the 2024-25 season, the baton will be passed to Andrew Manze, Jaap van Zweden, Vladimir Jurowski, Simone Young and Riccardo Chailly.
The Bruckner symphonies will also be performed on other dates and in other series. But this is the only series in which to hear all nine symphonies.
