Concert collections

In the 2026-27 season, Klaus Mäkelä deepens his collaboration with our orchestra in a rich palette of remarkable programmes. He conducts Beethoven’s grand Missa Solemnis, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle and Mahler’s Seventh Symphony.

The new season is a feast for piano lovers. Some of the world’s finest pianists perform with us. Experience piano concertos by Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven and Saint-Saëns with Yunchan Lim, Seong-Jin Cho, Alexander Melnikov, Mitsuko Uchida and Lang Lang.

In 2027, it will be 200 years since Ludwig van Beethoven’s death. That is why we perform some of his greatest masterpieces in the coming season. Klaus Mäkelä conducts the Seventh Symphony and the Missa Solemnis. Janine Jansen is the soloist in the celebrated Violin Concerto, and Mitsuko Uchida in the Second Piano Concerto.

Essentials introduces you to the masterpieces you will want to have heard. Enjoy Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Brahms’s Second, Debussy’s La Mer and Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto. Each concert begins with an inspiring introduction by popular presenter Thomas Vanderveken, and afterwards you can continue the conversation over drinks in the Mirror Hall.

We have the privilege of working with some of the world’s most celebrated soloists. Emanuel Ax performs John Williams’s Piano Concerto, and Yunchan Lim takes on Liszt. With violinist Janine Jansen and pianist Mitsuko Uchida we perform Beethoven; cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason makes his debut with Saint-Saëns; and Sol Gabetta brings her intensity to Tchaikovsky. Our orchestra members are outstanding musicians. Would you like to hear them as soloists with their own orchestra? In the coming season, principal horn Katy Woolley shines in music by Britten, and our principal cellist Gregor Horsch performs Weinberg’s moving Fantasia. Santa Vižine and Carlos Ferreira appear together as soloists in Bruch’s Concerto for Clarinet, Viola and Orchestra.

Would you like to enjoy our orchestra together with your children or grandchildren? For children aged eight and over, there is a brand-new production centred on Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Young music lovers are welcome in the Recital Hall for Little Sheku and the Animal Orchestra (4+), featuring the celebrated young cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and Tarantula and the Dance of the Animals (6+).
