The Concertgebouw Hair Salon is opening its doors on Wednesday, 19 January from 9.30 to 11.00 a.m. to a maximum of fifty customers who will be taking their seats in the waiting room of the Main Hall for a possible haircut by hairdressers Marga Bon and Lysandro Cicilia. As they wait, the Concertgebouw Orchestra will be rehearsing Charles Ives’s Symphony No. 2 under the direction of Susanna Mälkki.

About this concert

The Concertgebouw and the Concertgebouw Orchestra have joined the Kapsalontheater (Hair salon theatre) demonstration, an initiative of Sanne Wallis de Vries and Diederik Ebbinge. 

A Covid certificate (i.e. proof of vaccination, a negative test result or recovery) is required to ensure that the demonstration proceeds safely. The Covid certificate, together with valid ID, will be checked. In addition, those present are required to wear masks when moving about inside the Concertgebouw. 

Given the short time available, the hairdressers will be unable to cut the hair of all those present. Upon entering, you may thus indicate whether you would like to try to have your hair cut or styled.
