About this concert
The Concertgebouworkest has organised all its concert programmes in January to reflect the theme ‘Made in America’.
Club Night gives you the chance to enjoy exciting music performed by musicians of the Concertgebouworkest in a relaxed atmosphere at a special venue. On 22 January, it’s all about the boundless freedom of American music. The programme features swinging music by jazz great Charles Mingus and tasty ‘chamber jazz’ by Patrick Zimmerli, while orchestra musicians collaborate with Amsterdam-based American composer/musician David Dramm and perform spectacular works by Frederic Rzewski and JacobTV, a Dutch composer who is extremely popular in America.
This Club Night is part of Made in America. Throughout the month of January, the orchestra is celebrating the diversity of American music. Classical, jazz and pop aren’t separate worlds: in the United States, genres and musical cultures are constantly intermingled. This musical freedom is infectious: in the last century, Europe was inundated with Americans’ boundless creativity. These days, the Dutch can certainly hold their own, too.
