Composer–conductor Matthias Pintscher leads the Concertgebouworkest in Ravel’s enchanting Ma Mère l’Oye. Baritone Georg Nigl is making solo appearances in a Dutch premiere of Pintscher's songs from Solomon’s garden.
Matthias Pintscher is as successful a composer as he is a conductor and has already shown off his awe-inspiring sense of colour and atmosphere with the Concertgebouworkest. Now he returns with Ma Mère l’Oye, Ravel’s enchanting and brilliantly orchestrated set of miniatures based on the Mother Goose Tales. Tom Thumb, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty: Ravel, Pintscher and the Concertgebouworkest are bringing them all to life.
The Dutch premiere of Pintscher’s own songs from Solomon’s garden also features on the programme. The celebrated baritone Georg Nigl is as at home in the classical and romantic repertoire as he is in contemporary works, and Pintscher’s passionate rendering of the Song of Songs is sure to fit him like a glove.
