Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1
Richard Wagner Overture 'Tannhäuser'

Yefim Bronfman, the Concertgebouworkest’s artist in residence this season, is performing Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto. If anyone can do it, it’s Yefim Bronfman.

Pianist Yefim Bronfman has been a welcome guest with the Concertgebouworkest for many years, and will be serving as its artist in residence during the 2021–22 season. He’s getting off to a good start with Beethoven’s ground-breaking Piano Concerto No. 3. The prominent role Beethoven assigns to the orchestra gives the Third Piano Concerto great symphonic appeal. It will take a first-rate soloist to compete with the orchestra. But if anyone can do it, it’s Yefim Bronfman.

Wagner's Overture Tannhäuser focuses on the artist-hero. Knight-musician Tannhäuser prefers the unattainable Elisabeth to the sensual love for Venus.
