Sander Teepen

Sander Teepen began his musical career as an oboist. He studied at the Fontys conservatoire with Herman Vincken, was a substitute with various orchestras in the Netherlands and now works with the Anemos Arts Ensemble, a quintet made up of wind players from South Netherlands Philharmonic.

Sander Teepen studied conducting with Jan Stulen, Otto Tausk, Jac van Steen and others, supplementing his lessons by taking masterclasses with Jorma Panula, Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi and Leonid Grin.

He has won prizes at the conducting competitions of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra Budapest (2012), the Blue Danube Opera (2013 and 2015), and Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest (2014). These awards led to work in opera houses in Ostrava and Stara Zagora, as well as guest conductorships with the Moldova Philharmonic Orchestra in Iași and the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra in Timișoara. 

In the Netherlands, he has conducted the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hague Philharmonic, Metropole Orkest, Het Gelders Orkest, the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra and South Netherlands Philharmonic. In the spring of 2018 Sander Teepen was assistant conductor with Nederlandse Reisopera and he received a conducting grant from the Kersjes Fonds. In the 2019/2019 season he became the assistant conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra.
