Mirian Khukhunaishvili

Mirian Khukhunaishvili earned a doctorate in orchestral conducting from the Academy of Music in Cracow in 2020, having previously studied choral conducting at the state conservatory in his native Tbilisi. There he founded the project orchestra Alter Orchestra and the Tbilisi Youth Orchestra together with the composer Mikheil Mdinaradze. He and his youth orchestra were invited to the first Barouch International Concerto Competition in San Marino in 2019. Khukhunaishvili has conducted the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the national symphony orchestras of Denmark, Iceland and Korea, the Philharmonic Orchestra of North Macedonia, the Georgian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, the Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theatre’s orchestra and choir, and the Podkarpacka Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland. He currently lives in Reykjavik, where he holds the post of invited professor of conducting at the Iceland University of the Arts.
