New programmes to stream on Fridays in april

In April 2021, the Concertgebouworkest continues to present new concert streams on Fridays via and the orchestra’s Facebook and YouTube channels. The streams will start at 8 p.m. CEST. Following its premiere each video will remain accessible via

Streaming programme

On 9 April the Concertgebouworkest is to stream a chamber music programme with orchestra members in various formations, performing the first part (Allegro con spirito) from Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence, Berio’s Opus Number Zoo, the third part (Notturno) from Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2, Pärt’s Spiegel im Spiegel in a version for cello and vibraphone, and the world premiere of Resilience by Rob Dirksen. Composer Dirksen is a double bass player in the Concertgebouworkest.

On 16 April Paavo Järvi will conduct the Concertgebouworkest in Schumann’s ‘Rhenish’ Symphony preceded by Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24, K.491 with pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, who will be making his debut with the orchestra.

On 23 April, Jaap van Zweden will conduct the Concertgebouworkest in a new programme with baritone Matthias Goerne singing Lieder by Schubert and Richard Strauss and Der Einsiedler, a world premiere by Detlev Glanert, followed by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.

On 30 April, the orchestra will be streaming a programme recorded on 8 November 2020, with Daniel Harding conducting Stravinsky’s Apollon musagète and Messiaens Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum.
